Caitie Smith grew up in Broomfield, Colorado right outside of Denver where she instantly fell in love with dance after taking her first ballet class at Ballet Nouveau when she was 4. She discovered jazz dance not long after, and studied for 9 years at Elite Dance Academy. Caitie continued her training at Sweatshop Dance under by Brian Young in high school for 4 years, which brought a wide range of opportunities such as working with Andy Pellick, Pattie Obey, Jacob Mora, and traveling to New York City for Joe Lanteri’s New York City Dance Alliance National Convention. For 7 years she also attended Denver School of the Arts under the tutelage of Michael O’Banion and Terrell Davis, graduating in 2018. Caitie recently graduated from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee on merit scholarship where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance. She has trained in many styles such as Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Composition, Partnering (Modern, and Improvisation), Hip Hop, and Improvisation. Caitie has performed works by Jarek Cemerek, Juel D. Lane, Kate Weare, Murray Louis, Marielis Garcia, Robert Moses, Ruka Hatua-Saar White, and Scott Putman. During the summer months Caitie attended multiple summer dance intensives including José Limón, Doug Varone, Black Label Movement, University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and Boston Ballet, where she worked with artists such as Katherine Alter, Dante Puleio, Roger Jeffery, and Carl Flink. After discovering her love for yoga, Caitie completed a 200 hour yoga certification from Corepower Yoga in 2020, and she now teaches weekly classes at y7 studios in NYC.
